Applications and Techniques
Vibro Concrete Columns or Vibro Displacement Columns (VDC)
Vibro Concrete Columns are a universal method of soil strengthening that can be adapted to suit geotechnical conditions and foundation requirements. Vibro Concrete Columns increase the shear strength and stiffness of the substrata and thereby it’s bearing capacity. This technology significantly limits the possibility of soil liquidation and foundation subsidence. It is very effective for any land reclamation or compaction of sandy soils and an essential tool to increase slope stability and prevent seismic displacements.
IMPLEMENTATION
Vibro Concrete Columns are produced similar to aggregate columns using a vibrator which feeds the core material, however, instead of aggregate compacted concrete is fed. Vibro technology can be equipped with data collection devices enabling real time monitoring thus enabling the operator to correct any deviation during the production of the columns ensuring compaction within design specifications.
BENEFITS
• An economical and relatively quick solution to improve the quality and usability of land.
• Applicable for almost any depth.
• It’s low vibration frequencies result in almost no noise pollution, enabling application built-up areas.
• Produces little spoils and thus reduces the cost associated with the removal of potentially contaminated soil.
